“And then after I actually…” – Sydney Sweeney Reveals What Actually Helped Her Soak up the Character of Reality Winner
The highly anticipated film by Sydney Sweeney, aka Reality is finally out. This film has been in the news since the day it was announced. What excites people more is that it is based on the true story of a highly controversial woman. Since Sweeney is playing a real character for the first time in her career, there was a lot of pressure on her to be as precise as possible in Reality Winner.
When it comes to a biopic’s audience, you can expect the makers to be very authentic and as close to reality as possible. In this case, there was significant pressure on Sweeney to portray the NSA whistleblower as her original self. The 25-year-old took the challenge and put all her efforts into doing so. Since it is a biopic and is based on the transcript of the original FBI interrogation, there was no scope for Sweeney to improvise.

When Sweeney first went through the script, she was looking for ways to improvise it. However, there was no scope whatsoever, as it is a story based on true events. As per Yahoo Life, the Euphoria actress revealed to Big Issue Magazine, “And then after I actually spoke with Reality, I went back and reread it, and I saw so much of her in it.”
Meeting the actual person and interacting with her cleared a lot of doubts Sweeney had in mind. She saw how funny Miss Winner is in real life and she channeled it into her performance.
In the case of Reality, Sweeney had to work harder than her usual role in films or shows. But what makes them different from Reality?

The 25-year-old has revealed on several occasions that whenever she gets the chance to play a role, she completely dives into it. She tries to picture its backstory and events that have happened with it from the day it was born to the first page of the script. This helps her get to know the character better while also giving it depth and authenticity.
However, it is not like Sweeney only works on the past of the character and forgets it once she is done portraying it. The actress gets way too much into it and imagines what would have happened to the characters in the future. She creates different personas in her head which helps her understand the character.
