Several actors would be overjoyed if a high-profile film they have previously worked on was to be re-released. Michael Fassbender, on the other hand, was “glad” that his role as Magneto ended after his final scene in Dark Phoenix. On Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, he went into greater detail about that comment.
The actor stated that the film’s stress was getting to him for all the wrong reasons and that he was constantly changing things around him. He did, however, say that he enjoyed his time as Magneto in the successful franchise and is appreciative of everything it has done for him and his career. Notably, Fassbender took a three-year hiatus from Hollywood after the Dark Phoenix film in 2019 and was seen for the first time after the break in David Fincher’s action thriller The Killer in 2023.
While Fassbender is hesitant to reprise his part in the billion-dollar franchise, filmmaker Shawn Levy has other ideas.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige set a high bar for others when he released the last two superhit Avengers films. Despite this significant expectation, the Russo brothers were able to do great justice to the films that followed. Given the stakes, Shawn Levy has devised his master plan to rewrite history with his highly anticipated Deadpool 3, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. In an October interview with Total Film Magazine, the filmmaker admitted that “there’s a lot of Marvel history at Fox.”
Fans who have followed the mighty MCU since its inception know that Fox Studios brought the X-Men from comic books way back in the year 2000. Furthermore, the studios served as the foundation for the Deadpool franchise and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. As a result, Levy’s hint at a larger plan offers the audience permission to have high hopes regarding the X-Men characters’ resurgence for the next films from the great director’s vision.
