Amidst Severe Superman Outrage, Fans Defend David Corenswet’s Version for This One Redeeming Quality
Perhaps one of the most dramatic discussions in recent times has been about DC abandoning Henry Cavill as Superman and instead opting for David Corenswet. Ever since Cavill dropped the announcement that he is part of the Superman franchise no more, with a broken heart, fans have retorted to any Superman update with chants of Cavill's supremacy. However, Corenswet just got the first taste of praise from the Superman fandom.
A fan by the name of 'NebsGoodTakes' on X, compared the previous suits that various owners of the red cloak have sported. They were of the view that DC has done a good job with David Corenswet by ditching the "egregiously fake abs". This once again led to a heated discussion about Superman, the actors who have played him, and their suits.

The past Supermen have all displayed great physiques as it was an essential requisite of the role. This was especially true for Henry Cavill, who felt chubby before he got into the iconic blue suit. However, it seems that on top of his hard work; the suit did put a bit of icing on the cake.
James Gunn seems to have opted for a different strategy, however, as he not only went on to choose an actor eerily similar in looks to Henry Cavill but also ditched the abs on the suit, which many believe are essential to the role.
Fans split over David Corenswet's new Superman suit
Contrary to popular opinion, superhero franchises are all about intricate details. This is why, when the Deadpool & Wolverine leaks showcased Hugh Jackman in comic-accurate clothing, fans were in awe. Thus, it comes as no surprise that David Corenswet's Superman suit has caused such fan riots.
While the discussion began with some fans praising the new Superman suit, it did not stay that way for long. Fans soon started pointing out how Cavill's suit and the abs had everything to do with Zack Snyder's vision rather than a lack of effort by the actor.

Another side of the discussion was that Corenswet's suit is not as muscle-focused because that is how the comic showcased Superman. In the Justice League: The New Frontier, Superman's suit is a tad bit loose on the top. If that is true, then it seems that James Gunn's Superman is already headed in the right direction.
