With Greta Gerwig bringing back to the world the doll, on whose style it first learned to thrive and Christopher Nolan promising a brain chemistry-altering phenomenon on the same day at cinemas, humanities biggest conundrum has boiled down from progress paradox to which among Barbie and Oppenheimer should be watched first. On one hand, we have the empowered vision of Greta Gerwig as Barbie leaves her pink perfect world. On the other, Nolan is taking cinema to new heights through the tale of J. Robert Oppenheimer and the technology he incorporates.

As the most renowned of film critics scratch their heads on how to layer the two delicacies just right so that they can experience a movie outing worthy enough to pen down as a pinned tweet on Twitter, there has emerged a messiah in the form of a fan-made trailer. Crafted by an Instagram account by the name of ‘Farhani Edit’, the fan-made trailer brings the father of the atomic bomb and all those who played a part in the making of his doom child to the chirpy cheery world of Barbie where ‘Just Ken’ is facing an existential crisis as his Ken-ergy pales to her Barbie-ness.

The Barbenheimer trailer is almost catching up to the original trailers dropped by studio giants Warner Bros. and Universal. With over 2k likes and even more meme-worthy reactions, fans clearly appreciate the edit.

Elements that the Academy-winning director presumably spent hours on with his Oppenheimer trailer were swapped with Barbie fonts. A pink, perfect, and philosophical, Nolan directorial.

While it means no harm, the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike shines a different light on the fanmade trailer. It provides a peek into how AI can prove to be the atomic bomb from Oppenheimer in Barbie’s perfect world.

How does the SAG-AFTRA affect Barbie and Oppenheimer?

Given that the actors only went on strike just a few days ago, both movies have enjoyed ample promotions from their respective casts. Greta Gerwig caused a shortage of the color pink in the real world to make Barbie’s dream world as true to the doll’s taste as possible. And Christopher Nolan smashed ping-pong balls and developed luminous magnesium among other extensive lengths that he went to make the explosion seem real. The two movies are as sans-AI as it gets.

The fan-made trailers being circulated around that combine both, however, are not. While some use harmless editing tools to create Barbenheimer memes, with the right AI technology, a very realistic Barbenheimer trailer can be made. With just a click of buttons, Cillian Murphy can take up Ryan Gosling in his neon bravado, much like how Margot Robbie can replace Blunt. But while actors fear this, fans refuse to believe that a phenomenon like this can be replicated.
