Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Wrexham has surely come a long way from home. The Red Dragons’ journey since 2021 is arguably the most remarkable success story the Welsh League has witnessed in a while. Not only football, but the whole of Wrexham town has put itself on the world map. Unsurprisingly, the Hollywood duo deserve much praise for their impeccable efforts. However, without its players, Wrexham would have been nowhere near the level it is today.

Since their Wrexham takeover, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have signed some incredible talents. Recently, the club celebrated one of its biggest players and it is not the club’s talisman, Paul Mullin.

Until recently, the world was not aware of the Wrexham Women’s team, since almost every headline mostly focused on the Wrexham boys. However, a while ago, Welcome To Wrexham changed the dynamics as it unveiled its incredible women’s line-up. Much to everyone’s surprise, the club’s top goal scorer was not anyone from the star striker trio of the men’s team. Rather, it was Rosie Hughes who recently won the Player of the Season. Ryan Reynolds was quick to react to the same as he shared a picture of Hughes on Instagram and wrote, “The one and only.”

McElhenney on the follow-up took to Twitter as he simply added, “Absolute Boss.” Interestingly, apart from the Player of the Season trophy, Hughes completed her 100th goal for the club. Meanwhile, the duo also had a surprise planned for the goal-scoring sensation. To acknowledge Hughes’s impeccable efforts, the club organized an open-top bus parade around the town.

In their journey to making Wrexham a global force, the team’s documentary series has been a great help. Not only did it make the fans more involved with the team, but it also popularized the team and Wrexham culture altogether. Despite their record-breaking viewership, Welcome To Wrexham is also proving to be a major financial hindrance. As shocking as it may sound, Reynolds and McElhenney recorded nearly $12 million in losses from the series.

Owing to the huge amount of money involved, Wrexham’s advisor even opened up the possibility for the duo to sell the club. He admitted how they could easily recover the losses, since Wrexham’s value had significantly increased. However, McElhenney quickly dismissed the offer as he assured that “they are in for their lives.”
