Amid ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Trailer Highs, Marvel Studios Drops a ‘Fantastic Four’ Valentine’s Day Surprise
Marvel Studios has started to pick up steam, especially as its lone 2024 release, Deadpool & Wolverine just debuted its first trailer to a magnanimous reception. Despite the past year ending with a string of box-office as well as critical disappointments, the Kevin Feige-led team has started to approach things on a more creative level. Dropping a surprise Valentine’s Day announcement, the production juggernaut casually handed out the details regarding the upcoming The Fantastic Four, which has had rumors here and there about the plot to the cast.
Labeled as Marvel’s ‘first family’ in the comics, the team has the potential to set up an Avengers-like sub-franchise and things have taken shape in the right direction.

In 2005, the first major live-action adaptation of Marvel’s ‘First Family’ debuted as an offering from 20th Century Fox. However, with Disney buying the studio and the character rights along with the X-Men returning to Marvel, it has taken up fast-tracking and rebooting those franchises. In a surprise drop, the official Instagram handle of Marvel Studios wished fans a “Happy Valentine’s Day” as it announced Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn as its cast for The Fantastic Four.
The list will have Pascal play the team’s lead as Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, who was last essayed by John Krasinski. Additionally, Kirby will play Sue Strom, the former’s girlfriend, and The Invisible Woman. Thereafter, Moss-Bachrach will star as Ben Grimm aka The Thing. Finally, Quinn will play Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch. Furthermore, in another post following the previous one, the studio also stated that its version of The Fantastic Four will drop on July 25, 2025.

The 2024 Super Bowl played host to one of the most anticipated teaser drops for comic book movie fans. Staying true to its promise, the first R-rated project of the MCU for Deadpool & Wolverine starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman arrived with its trademark style of humor and fourth-wall breaks. However, within 24 hours, the teaser achieved an impressive feat by amassing over 365 million views surpassing Spider-Man: No Way Home’s 355.5 million.
The spot also confirmed that the film will stick to its July 26, 2024 release date despite the SAG-AFTRA strikes delaying its filming. Additionally, with Shawn Levy at the helm and a bunch of action-packed scenes making their way to the trailer, fans stand convinced of the movie fulfilling Reynolds’ Deadpool’s self-proclaimed role of “Marvel Jesus”.
