Following the high-profile Megxit, Meghan Markle made occasional forays onto screens with her husband Prince Harry, focusing on a specific genre of shows.
As rumors swirl about her potential Hollywood comeback, here is a lowdown on all the times Markle returned to the screen after her acting retirement in 2017.
Meghan Markle’s screen comebacks in documentaries

Meghan Markle kicked off her documentary journey with the HBO documentary Queen of the World. Filmed over more than a year and featuring privileged access to Her Majesty the Queen, this documentary offered unique insights into the Queen’s global role and the generational shift within the royal family. In the documentary, Meghan Markle offered her first official TV interview as a fully integrated royal member. Markle’s next documentary was with her husband, Prince Harry.
Markle took part in the documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey. The documentary provided viewers with a detailed insight into Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal tour of southern Africa. The documentary also went deep into their lives, charity efforts, and their challenges with media scrutiny. After the ITV documentary, Markle joined in on a bunch of docuseries, and one of them caused a lot of ruckuses.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s first appearance on screen following Megxit was in the Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan. From their courtship to their departure from royal duties, the Sussexes candidly shared their complicated journey in their own words in these docuseries. This docuseries was one of the bombshells that the Sussexes dropped while trying to foray into Hollywood. Following that, the Sussexes featured in the American docuseries, Live to Lead, based on Nelson Mandela’s legacy.
The docuseries featured footage of the Sussexes from a November 2019 interview with the Nelson Mandela Foundation. The most recent appearance of Meghan Markle was in Netflix’s Heart of Invictus. It was based on the journey of six competitors from the 2020 Invictus Games. Though not essentially a screen appearance, Meghan Markle also lent her voice as a narrator for Disney’s documentary, Elephant.
