In the last year, the world was blessed with two extremely strong contenders in the queer-film genre. While one was Saltburn, which came out last month, the other was All of Us Strangers, which premiered at a film festival. Both the films ended up being surrounded with immaculate reviews, each that claimed it was the best queer film of the year. Now, let us dive into the chemistry of the stars on screen to see which one is worthy of the title.

Jacob Elordi and Barry Keoghan’s Saltburn

Just a month ago, Jacob Elordi and Barry Keoghan stunned the world with their collaboration, Saltburn. The film was unlike anything the stars had ever done before and ended up giving fans more exploration of their skills. However, once their twisted thriller made its way online, fans could not help but notice some disturbing moments. Even with all of that, the chemistry of the stars ended up shocking the world.

After the film was finally released, both Elordi and Keoghan opened up about their time on set and working together. While separate interviews garnered a lot of traction, they stole the show when they started promoting the series together. Their interviews and fun friendship left fans more intrigued about their chemistry in the film. With the movie showing the darker sides of being queer and obsessed, their mildly erotic best friendship only adds to the whole thing.

While the Euphoria star may have stuck in the same role he has always been seen in, his co-star ended up taking the film to a whole other level with his incredible acting.

Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott’s All of Us Strangers

Earlier this year, Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott’s All of Us Strangers premiered at the Telluride Film Festival. Immediately, the film ended up being named one of the top ten independent films of the year by the National Board of Review. Ever since then, the world has been patiently waiting for the film that is scheduled to release on December 22nd. While the excitement has only been increasing as the date draws closer, the chemistry between both stars became the talk of the town.

Although the film initially focused on Scott’s character and his struggles, it soon turned into something much bigger once Mescal’s character got acquainted with the star. Their performances not only complemented each other, but they also intertwined and created a symphony that resonated long after the credits rolled. While the end might leave fans questioning a lot about what they will see, the story comes together rather perfectly.

Which will be the ultimate Queer-Film of 2023?

Saltburn and All of Us Strangers might go down as 2023 ultimate queer films, but only one can have the title. While Barry Keoghan’s performance in the film is well-deserving of an Oscar, the same could be said for Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal. With Jacob Elordi being the only one playing it a little safe, there is a high possibility that Scott and Mescal’s chemistry could push their film over the top.
