Ahead the Release of ‘House of Dragons’ 2 and ‘The Sandman’ 2 Neil Gaiman and George RR Martin Join a WGA Picket in New Mexico
While fans await the next season of Netflix’s The Sandman, the author behind it joins WGA’s strike. It is going to be an unpredictable amount of wait not just for the fans of this series but for others as well. While some are quiet about it, some others are showing support despite it affecting their own shows. Regardless, the writers in Hollywood are staying strong, forming a voice of unity.
Joining him in the strike was another big name like the Game of Thrones’ George R. R. Martin and Binti’s writer Nnedi Okorafor. R.R. Martin even took to Twitter to share about his participation and here is what he said in support of the protest.

At this time of need, WGA is getting support from its biggest members. George RR Martin shared a photo of himself on Twitter along with Neil Gaiman and Nnedi Okorafor. He stood in the middle as the other two held onto a placard that had signs supporting the writer’s protest. They were in attendance at the protest at Greer Garson Studios in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The efforts of protests in Santa Fe and Albuquerque proved fruitful as they managed to shut down several shoots.
In his blog, George R R Martin.com, the writer explained how that area of protest may not have as many members as there are in California. Regardless, their efforts are just as strong. Although it did not affect the making of House of Dragons Season 2. The protest also included Douglas Preston, Rebecca Roanhorse, and Chris Eyre. But these are just the new supporters who have joined other writers of series like The Family Guy and American Dad.
As for Neil Gaiman, the author has a clear stance on the progress of The Sandman 2, which he sticks by.
How the writer’s strike has affected Sandman 2
Sandman managed to get a second season, standing against the ever-increasing competition between Netflix series. But the strike means any re-writing may have to wait. Gaiman assured that no inexperienced people will write the story until they settle the protest.

The WGA strike began approximately four weeks ago and has not come to a settlement so far. Some of their objectives include regulations of AI in the industry, along with better pay.
