There have been enough debates about whether Hugh Jackman should return as Wolverine in the Deadpool franchise without potentially ruining his original universe. As a matter of fact, even Marvel president, Kevin Feige was sitting on the fence about the decision until it was assured that the mutant in Deadpool & Wolverine is a different version of the character. Like it or not, Jackman's Wolverine has returned, and in this iconic moment, an old video of the actor's interaction with Stan Lee has blown up on X.

The viral video proves Hugh Jackman’s larger-than-life status as Wolverine, ahead of his comeback in Deadpool & Wolverine. 

Hugh Jackman and Stan Lee first met at the 2008 Comic Con, in San Diego, where the former was promoting X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which also featured Ryan Reynolds. Josh Horowitz, who was present at the event, was lucky enough to witness the iconic moment when for the first time, Stan Lee, "the legend meets the legend". Horowitz shared the old clip on his YouTube channel where Stan Lee was seen fawning over Jackman saying, "You’re like the best superhero out of all of them. You are terrific. I’m a big fan of yours."

The two posed for pictures in front of the cameras. Jackman was also seen joking about a fake cameo of Stan Lee in the hot tub in Japan where the Marvel maestro would play a "geisha girl". The comic book writer also playfully threw some cusswords here and there at Jackman, which was something rare coming from Stan Lee. Even the Logan actor talked about this experience later.

In an interview with MTV years later, Hugh Jackman revealed that he was not even sure if Stan Lee knew him when they first met. 

Hugh Jackman had not met Stan Lee before 2008. However, the Marvel legend had appeared in many of Jackman's movies before as part of his trademark cameos. Talking about his experience meeting Lee for the first time, Jackman once told MTV, "When I first met him, I was not 100 percent sure he knew who I was". The moment the Australian actor spotted Stan Lee, he uttered, "That is cool".

Jackman also talked about how "taken aback" he was seeing the man, even in his 70s, getting so much "respect and adulation". Hugh Jackman, following in the legend's footsteps, is already getting glowing reviews for Deadpool & Wolverine. And with movies like these creating a frenzy in the Marvel fandom, Stan Lee’s legacy will hopefully continue to thrive on the screens.
