Netflix may be one of the biggest streaming platforms in the world. But it does not always have the films people are looking for. However, the streaming giant is looking to change that with its plans to fill up their viewing library. Out of all the films on the platform, there was one rather hit that fans had been waiting for. Though it took a while, the media company finally revealed plans to bring one of Denis Villeneuve’s adapted films to their audience.

While the film was neither an epic hit nor a complete miss, it still managed to captivate its audience with a gorgeous star-studded cast. And the fact the news broke right when chatter about the sequel picked up again has everyone losing their minds.

Recently, the streaming giant took to their X account (formerly known as Twitter) to reveal their plans to bring a much-awaited film to their audience. It was Denis Villeneuve’s 2021 film, Dune, starring Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet. Though it is coming to the platform two years after its release, it was not surprising that fans immediately got excited about the plans. Netflix also announced that the film would be hitting screens on October 1st, less than four days away.

While the film may not have been an epic success, it brought together fans and critics alike with its action-packed scenes. In fact, the film was so loved that the creator of the movie, Denis Villeneuve, decided to hop to work on a sequel. Unfortunately, production for Dune 2 ended up being halted because of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike earlier this year. But now, with the WGA reaching a tentative agreement, it looks like that may be changing soon.

Until things are officially confirmed again about Dune 2, at least fans will have the prequel to keep them company. However, since the film was announced by Warner Bros. two years ago, here’s what we know so far about the release date.

When fans can expect Dune: Part Two?

Back in 2021, just days after Dune premiered, Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros. came out with official confirmation of a follow-up film. However, all of that seemed to change with the start of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike that started in July of this year. After being set to release by November 2023, the sequel ended up being pushed back not once, but twice because of the strike, which might also help Cillian Murphy secure his Oppenheimer win. However, the release date that has been chosen now seems much more doable.

With the WGA strike coming to an end after agreements with the studios, fans can expect production for the film to pick up soon, which makes the March 2024 release date even more attainable. However, with no confirmations or updates on either side, fans may have to wait just a little longer before they get what they have been waiting over 2 years for.
