After being pelted with tomatoes for doing nothing but his job as the head of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran, James Gunn reminded the world of why he deserves the honor as he released a compelling send-off for the misfits that he brought to the mainstream with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3. And as the movie delivered on all the right notes, fans found themselves kneeling for Gunn’s cinematic genius.

The third installment of the franchise focused on the Guardians facing a new threat in the form of The High Evolutionary, who has a direct relation to Rocket and his origin story. How Gunn managed to tie the kerfuffle that ensued because of The High Evolution to Rocket and managed to add emotional value as well as fear has made fans sit down and appreciate the villains of James Gunn’s movies and the director’s prowess.

The audience that walked out of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 screening all testified to having one of the best movie viewing experiences of their life. And while the majority of the credit goes to the prime characters who whine and bicker when the stakes are at an all-time high, the show-stopper was the villain. James Gunn has the ability to make even a starfish seem like a worthy antagonist. Therefore, it does not come as a surprise that he broke the glass ceiling with The High Evolution.

While many found renewed hope in the DC reboot after the latest Guardians installment, fans picked up on something else as well. As Chukwudi Iwuji played his character (The High Evolution) down to the last morsel, fans were reminded how seamlessly the prior villains of his works have delivered.

Robert Patrick as White Dragon in Peacemaker, Kurt Russell as Ego, and Peter Capaldi as The Thinker in The Suicide Squad have all proven to be effortlessly terrifying in their roles. And this is all thanks to Gunn’s vision when it comes to his characters and projects.

As the Guardians of Galaxy Vol.3 throws out the narrative that James Gunn will provide anything but brilliance to DC, fans wait with bated breath for the Superman reboot. As he joins the rendition of the DC universe, fans have a list of characters that they feel will be a great addition to his blockbuster villains portfolio. And Toyman has emerged as a strong player.

Gunn is known for his whacky and fun movies, and Toyman can prove to be a perfectly creepy and quirky villain. Two traits that are omnipresent in Gunn’s movies. The next villain that fans would to see James Gunn incorporate into his Superman reboot is Atomic Skull. With his knack for horror undertones, the new DC head can make Atomic Skull the next big antagonist.
