After being pelted with tomatoes for doing nothing but his job as the head of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran, James Gunn reminded the world of why he deserves the honor as he released a compelling send-off for the misfits that he brought to the mainstream with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3. And as the movie delivered on all the right notes, fans found themselves kneeling for Gunn’s cinematic genius.

The third installment of the franchise focused on the Guardians facing a new threat in the form of The High Evolutionary, who has a direct relation to Rocket and his origin story. How Gunn managed to tie the kerfuffle that ensued because of The High Evolution to Rocket and managed to add emotional value as well as fear has made fans sit down and appreciate the villains of James Gunn’s movies and the director’s prowess.

And while the majority of the credit goes to the prime characters who whine and bicker when the stakes are at an all-time high, the show-stopper was the villain. James Gunn has the ability to make even a starfish seem like a worthy antagonist. Therefore, it does not come as a surprise that he broke the glass ceiling with The High Evolution.

While many found renewed hope in the DC reboot after the latest Guardians installment, fans picked up on something else as well. As Chukwudi Iwuji played his character (The High Evolution) down to the last morsel, fans were reminded how seamlessly the prior villains of his works have delivered.
