The hype for new shows or new seasons of your favorite show is very real. That is probably why fans of The Witcher were disappointed when the series announced the cutting of two episodes from the spin-off series, The Witcher: Blood Origin, which aired last December. But eight months later, one of the directors of House of the Dragon confirmed in an interview that the series would be following in the footsteps of The Witcher prequel.

With the backlash received following The Witcher: Blood Origin, fans are confused as to why the House of the Dragon directors would make these changes for the upcoming 2024 summer release, which will not be available on Netflix.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Clare Kilner, one of the directors of the Game of Thrones prequel, confirmed that the series would be undergoing a mini-cut and will be cutting down 2 episodes. The House of the Dragon series, much like The Witcher prequel, has not one, but five directors. Each with their own unique twist and creative direction. With the addition of Alan Taylor, director of Game of Thrones, the season will bring a hint of nostalgia to fans of the series.

In the interview, Clare Kilner brought up that it was based on “Ryan’s decision to give it a good opening and a good ending.” But the main reason that the episodes had to be cut was due to time constraints. With only ten hours to tell the story, the decision was made to ensure that each episode was packed with moments that will have the audience on the edge of their seats.
