After ‘The Witcher’, ‘House of the Dragon’ Casts a ‘Sex Education’ Actor In a New Role

Since Game of Thrones first came out, fans have been hooked. The same thing happened again when its prequel, House of the Dragon, hit the screens back in 2022. Ever since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting the series’ second season, after the first season ended on a cliffhanger. But with updates finally coming out, the hype for House of the Dragon has now come back and is stronger than ever before. Especially now that the show has cast this Sex Education star.

While the wait may have been long, it looks like fans might finally be getting their second season sooner than they thought with a new cast member as well.

House of the Dragon casts a Sex Education actor

According to a fan page on Twitter, there was a new addition to the House of the Dragon cast. The Sex Education actress, Anna Francolini, is now set to play Lady Mallister in the upcoming season. It was also announced that the actress would be in episodes directed by Loni Peristere and Clare Kilner, which will be episodes 7 and 2 or 5, respectively.

But Francolini is not the only new addition to the cast. Along with her, news broke that The Witcher star, Roderick Hill, was also stepping into the series with an unknown role. Even though the star is known for portraying Yennefer’s father in the Henry Cavill showit will be a pleasant change for viewers to see the actor in a different role.

This revelation comes shortly after it was announced that the series would be following in the footsteps of The Witcher series, earlier in the month.

House of the Dragon follows The Witcher’s footsteps

Back when The Witcher was getting ready to release their prequel, The Witcher: Blood Origin, fans of the series were faced with disappointment like never before. A little before they released the show in December, the showrunner, Declan de Barra, revealed that the prequel would be cutting two episodes from their six-episode series.

Earlier in the month, Clare Kilner, one of the directors of House of the Dragon, announced that the series had also decided to cut two episodes from their upcoming second season. While fans were unhappy with the decision, the director promised that it would still live up to the expectations of the sequel.

While filming has finally begun, it is still uncertain when the next season will be out, but according to HBO’s chief content officer, Casey Bloys, the second season will be released by early summer 2024. So evidently fans will not have to wait too long before they get to pick up where they left off.
