The world of DC is currently undergoing a major transformation owing to the new CEO’s reinvention of the multiverse. However, it seems like fans have come to terms with their heartbreak from Cavill’s departure and there is a fresh excitement to know more about the upcoming Superman: Legacy. Amidst the buzz, Gunn confirmed through a recent post on Threads that he could unveil the rest of the cast’s faces anytime soon.
A Thread user asked the 57-year-old executive whether he was going to announce more names for the 2025 movie. He further inquired whether Gunn would do it “as soon as the strike ends”. To which the Guardians of the Galaxy director replied saying, “Yeah”, with some folded hands emojis. Apart from Corenswet, a few other actors including Rachel Brosnahan, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, and Anthony Carrigan will be joining the first movie of the new DC universe.
While the cast announcements could be a buzz-generator for Gunn’s Superman vision, there are many other factors that could hinder its success.

For quite some time, Gunn has been on the receiving end of fans’ wrath following Cavill’s departure from his iconic role. When Cavill made his return in Black Adam, fans became hopeful that the 40-year-old would continue his role in the franchise. However, Cavill’s exit announcement put a damper on all expectations. What set fans off the most was the fact that Gunn had already started working on Legacy, even before Cavill announced his departure.
A while ago, Gunn released the timeline of the 2025 movie and revealed that he started working on the film in August 2022. Adding further fuel to the fire, Gunn shared that he fired Cavill from his role because The Witcher actor did not match Gunn’s vision. However, creating anticipation for Cavill’s comeback in the Black Adam post-credit scene, despite knowing that he will not be continuing his journey in the DCU, is something that could be bad news for the upcoming movie.
