With Mullin getting injured, and Ben Foster officially retiring, Wrexham AFC was preparing to bring new players into the club. After the confirmation of failure, Wrexham AFC issued a statement on their official website apologizing to Armstrong. It acknowledged the delay with regret and added the remaining formalities would not be completed by that window.

Additionally, the club also wanted to appeal to get the deal over the line. But they did not go with the idea and ultimately decided against it. The club mentioned they believed there was no chance they could overturn the decision of the EFL. After dedicatedly working to get the player on board all summer, the club expressed their frustration of not being able to fulfill their dream. However, Harrogate Town’s manager also spoke on the subject and expressed his concerns about their striker, as reported by Goal.

The manager, while expressing his regret, said the club would happily welcome their player back. He also revealed Armstrong would be with the club until January.
