However, for a while there, the Sussex couple seemed to be in the spotlight for heartwarming reasons. It was because of their latest Netflix series, Heart of Invictus. But, now, with the hype of the series starting to slowly fade, the duo is back in the hot seat.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry branded as hypocrites

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently were branded as “hypocrites,” according to Mail Online. This came shortly after they were seen taking a seven-car convoy to arrive at an event just a block away. The couple was scheduled to make an appearance at the World Health Day Festival. It was supposed to be for their charity, the Archewell Foundation, but instead, the couple may have stolen the show with their grand arrival.

While the incident may have something to do with their paparazzi car chase from a few months ago, fans immediately called the couple out for their behavior. The incident surprised everyone, as the Sussexes have been extremely outspoken about protecting the environment over the years. A few years ago, they even claimed that they would be trying to cut down their carbon footprint, which has not seemed to have happened. In fact, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were even given an environmental award back in 2021.

Even though the couple has been so vocal about climate change, this is not the first time that they have been under fire.

Back in 2019, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were under fire after they were spotted boarding a private plane. This time, they had to travel to Nice for a trip with their firstborn, Archie. Prince William and Kate Middleton were also set to take a trip with their kids. However, they had flown to Scotland via a commercial flight, unlike their family members.

This quickly sent fans reeling over the fact that the eventual King of England could travel as the public did. But it also made the situation harder to navigate for the Sussex royals. Yet, they did end up releasing a statement that clarified that they had to travel with security as the media had turned Markle into the UK’s public enemy.
