The comic book movie universe is going through a sea change right now. While Marvel Studios is busy bringing the mutants along with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 3, DC is shaking its very core. As soon as James Gunn and Peter Safran took over as DC bosses, they are rigorously implementing Gunn’s vision. Notably, the change started rather unceremoniously with the snubbing of fan-favorite Superman, Henry Cavill. Not long after, the new DC boss announced the replacement for Henry Cavill too, who shall lead his Superman: Legacy movie.

Moreover, after settling on his lead, Gunn is not ready to slow down his ‘Flash’ speed as he is zooming past casting choices. It has now come to notice that along with the lead and several other choices, Gunn has probably finalized another actor to play the character of Jimmy Olsen.

The young and talented Skyler Gisondo was previously rumored to have landed the role of Jimmy Olsen in James Gunn’s highly anticipated DC reboot movie, Superman; Legacy. Now cementing the rumors, James Gunn has started following the actor on Instagram. It all seems to suggest that the 27-year-old will indeed play Jimmy Olsen, Superman’s friend and a photographer for the Daily Planet in the comics. The character is famous for his loyalty to Superman and his tendency to find himself in challenging situations. He also possesses a watch that emits a signal specifically audible to Superman, enabling him to seek assistance when needed.

Gisondo is no stranger to working with Gunn. The pair have worked before in Gunn’s DC directorial debut, The Suicide Squad. Additionally, Gisondo’s acting credits extend beyond that role with appearances in Licorice Pizza, Booksmart, and Vacation on the big screen. On television, he has starred in The Righteous Gemstones and Santa Clarita Diet. As such, the pair are expected to get along well with the onboarding in the new cast.

However, fans are still miffed with Gunn for not giving a proper exit to Henry Cavill, who started the DCEU in the first place with his 2013 Man Of Steel. Nevertheless, Gunn had his reasons, which he has explained.

Adamant to enforce his vision for the next ten years of the DC Universe, James Gunn has said that he was bound to part ways with Henry Cavill. The Peacemaker director wanted to reboot his slate with a young actor for Superman. Considering that Cavill is now 40 years old, the actor did not meet his eye for the long-term stake in his universe. Thus, Gunn finally settled on David Corenswet as the new Superman replacing Cavill.

However, all hope is not lost. The recently concluded The Flash did not have Cavill, but the movie introduced the concept of the multiverse. Therefore, it is plausible that Cavill may return as an older Superman or any other character in the near future of the new DC Studios’ universe.
