Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively built their Hollywood legacy brick by brick, but it took just one legal whirlwind with Justin Baldoni to put asterisks on their years of hustle. Fans wondered if they would ever reemerge to reclaim, and when they finally did by stepping out for SNL’s 50th celebration, the controversy only tightened its grip.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively may not be the fan-favorite Hollywood power couple for the time being, but at least, they are there for each other. Following the controversial row that came hot on the heels of their SNL 50th bash appearance over the former’s subtle shade on the Justin Baldoni lawsuit, a source told Entertainment Tonight the legal difficulties have finally come to take a toll on the lovebirds and their romantic bliss. However, Reynolds is reportedly doing “his best” to support Lively throughout.

The report follows Lively’s plea for additional protection from the court in her recent filings, citing “violent, profane, se--st, and threatening communications from trolls”. And of course, this also comes right after Reynolds’ SNL joke on the lawsuit that had the entire Hollywood hooked, especially Lorne Michaels and Dana Carvey who was not even in attendance. The joke sparked a firestorm, prompting debates about whether it was part of SNL’s satire or Reynolds’ repertoire.
