After Playing Pikachu in ‘Pokémon Detective Pikachu’ Live-Action, Ryan Reynolds is Ready to Join DC Star Jason Momoa and Aubrey Plaza for Something Similar
When you think about an R-rated film, you would immediately come up with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool. And if you have to think about his live-action movie, there is Pokémon Detective Pikachu. What if you get R-rated and live-action along with animation in only one film starring your favorite actor? Exciting, right? It is going to happen as reportedly the Canadian actor has joined hands with Jason Momoa and Aubrey Plaza for an upcoming film.
As Deadline reported, the 46-year-old actor is going to star in a live-action/animated adaptation of Animal Friends along with the Aquaman star, Aubrey Plaza, and Vince Vaughn. The writing duo Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider are working on the film’s script. Although the plot details are under wraps at the time.

The Emmy-winning director Peter Atencio is also on board. In 2019, Jason Momoa appeared in Apple’s sci-fi drama series, See. He is now going to star in the Fast & Furious franchise as the villain in Fast X while also returning to play his iconic role of Aquaman in an upcoming DC movie as well. Aubrey Plaza and Vince Vaughn are also going to appear in various projects.
How did the idea of Animal Friends starring Ryan Reynolds come up?
The Vancouver-born actor owns a company named Maximum Effort. The production company has supported several projects. Reportedly, Maximum Effort along with Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios teamed up with Legendary to produce the film. In a general meeting between the writer duo and Patrick Gooing, they got the idea of creating the film. Gooing is an executive at Maximum Effort and thus, they all got together to create yet another entertaining film.

A well-known entertainment service company named DNEG is going to provide the visual effects and animation for the upcoming movie. Amidst the 46-year-old actor’s busy schedule with Deadpool 3, he is also going to star in Shawn Levy’s musical movie, Boy Band.
While the future schedule of the father of four seems busy, his company, Maximum Effort, is also going to expand the business in Canada. However, managing everything together has been one of the expertise of Reynolds. And now, fans are waiting to see how he will manage his role in this upcoming film.
