2023 was a wild year for Hollywood. While most films ended up being stopped mid-way through the year, the ones that came out before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike began, made their mark. The most raved-about movies were Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. They even sparked a debate over which one was the best as they both came out on the same day.

Now, thanks to the Golden Globe awards just hours ago, the debate was put to rest with the historical thriller bagging most of the awards of the night. However, with the SAG awards just a month away, the question remains: Could Margot Robbie’s film make a comeback, or will the Cillian Murphy starrer continue its reign?

Who will dominate the SAG awards: Oppenheimer or Barbie?

Just last night, the world was dazzled by the 81st annual Golden Globe Award ceremony. While most eyes were on Taylor Swift who had been nominated that night for a brand new category, the spotlight ended up falling on the Christopher Nolan project, Oppenheimer. While the film ended up bagging most of the awards it was nominated for, Barbie was not too far behind. In fact, the Gerwig movie beat the pop sensation’s concert film in the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category.

The movie generated $1.42 billion at the box office. Meanwhile, the Cillian Murphy film had brought in $954 million. With the Mattel production having more popularity among the masses, there could be a chance that it will have its time in the spotlight soon. While the actors from both films have already been praised for their roles, the true winner will only be crowned at the Oscars in March.

Although the ceremony and the final round are only 2 months away, it looks like the first round of wins has gone to the Oppenheimer team.

Oppenheimer vs Barbie: The Golden Globes 2024

Just hours ago, the world finally got to see whether Oppenheimer or Barbie had done better at the Golden Globes. While both the movies ended up winning awards, the Robert Downey Junior film ended up stealing the spotlight. From Best Director to Best Actor and more, the film secured 5 out of its 8 nominations. However, the girl power film ended up falling a little short.

While it too had been nominated for every category, the film only saw one win. Some people might not be too happy about the Margot Robbie film missing out on so many awards. However, the movie will have another shot to make its mark at the SAG and Oscars later this year.
