The John Wick director, Chad Stahelski, dropped some exciting news in an interview with Josh Horowitz in his Happy Sad Confused podcast. Revealing details about the production, the director-cum-stuntman confirmed that the Enola Holmes actor would be breathing life into a Highlander prequel. The famous 1986 film by Russell Mulcahy would not be much different from the newest version in terms of storyline. Moreover, Stahelski revealed he wanted to “live by the lore” of the Mulcahy film.

The John Wick: Chapter 4 director reasoned that by opting for a prequel, he would not have to kill all the other characters this way. Along with Cavill playing the lead in the film, Chad Stahelski plans on bringing several previous cast members. They would come from all the films and series in Highlander’s extended universe. Set as a prequel, he could easily set the stage for a sequel later on. It would help the creative crew expand the Highlander world.
