Recently, it was reported by Variety that Viola Davis could be reprising a role for an upcoming DCU film. The post claimed that the 58-year-old could be set to play her iconic role of Amanda Waller from The Suicide Squad. The surprising part was that it would not be for a sequel or a Suicide Squad spinoff. Instead, she would be making an appearance in James Gunn’s 2025 film, Superman: Legacy.

Given that James Gunn’s new Superman, David Corenswet, is still a new face, her prowess would do wonders for the film. However, fans are curious as to what role the morally ambiguous Waller could play in Superman:Legacy.
While the introduction of Amanda Waller in Gunn’s new Superman movie comes as a surprise, it is not as shocking as the fact that only two of the original DCEU actors remain on board.

This has led to an outpour of love for the director. From Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, , and even Ezra Miller, most of the actors are said to not be returning to their roles. However, they did reveal that John Cena, the WWE superstar, would be coming back as the Peacemaker. Along with Xolo Mariuena continuing as the Blue Beetle.

Though it might be sad for fans to see their favorite stars being removed from their iconic roles, Gunn has promised that they will make way for newer ones. However, it is still up for debate whether fans are ready for new actors to take the place of these DC icons. While fans may have to wait a while before they hear more about the changing DCU, Gunn’s exciting updates have kept them busy.
