After Gushing Over Henry Cavill, Matthew Vaughn Disses Aaron Taylor Johnson
Henry Cavill has made the entire world restless with his comeback in Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle. The film has been getting a lot of attention because this is the British actor’s first major work after the controversial exits from The Witcher and DCEU. Despite getting setback for his hairstyle in the flick, the British actor received a ton of praise from the director, Matthew Vaughn. Vaughn even admitted to being Cavill’s fan as well.
On the other hand, the Argylle director had not-so-good remarks about Aaron Taylor-Johnson, despite his close relationship with Vaughn.

The Layer Cake director appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast hosted by Josh Horowitz to talk about his 2024 film. Vaughn and Horowitz talked about Kingsman and how Aaron Taylor-Johnson was considered for a role. The host revealed how Taylor-Johnson admired working with Vaughn, however, the director had something else to say. He said, “He was really green, but he didn’t behave like he was green.” Not being so caring and friendly, the Kick-Ass actor was very opinionated, admitted Vaughn.
The 33-year-old actor allegedly behaved as if he knew everything on the set. Therefore, as Matthew Vaughn admitted, “I have to bash that out of him.” However, they both later found a common ground to connect with one another. Now, they both have moved on from their completely different spectrum of lives. As the Stardust director admitted, “We’ve battered each other and become stronger.”
Further, Vaughn talked about how he would handle his actors while directing them. He revealed he would just remind the actors of what was happening where exactly in the movie. Talking about the importance of casting, the director seemed extremely happy with casting Cavill in his film. Because in the same interview earlier, Vaughn could not stop gushing over The Witcher actor.

When Horowitz asked the director about his experience of working with the Superman actor, Vaughn praised the actor and his skills. He said despite the Enola Holmes actor having his own doubts about getting major roles; he became extremely happy when Cavill was selected for the part of Superman. Vaughn even praised Cavill’s performance as the DC’s superhero, along with praising his professional attitude as well.
He expressed how lovely it was working with the 40-year-old actor in his film, as he was blossoming. The X-Men: First Class director revealed Cavill was truly a gentleman. The anticipation for the upcoming movie, Argylle, grew as fans saw the amazing chemistry that the British actor shared not just with Dua Lipa on-screen but with Matthew Vaughn off-screen.
