The Henry Cavill Superman era is officially over! And now. David Corenswet will carry the baton. Superman stands as a paragon of virtue and embodies the best qualities of humanity. He is the epitome of truth, justice, and compassion. To play Superman, an actor must understand the depth and complexity of these virtues and bring them to the forefront. It requires an unwavering commitment to portraying a character who is selfless, noble, and driven by a strong moral compass. And now, as yet another actor will portray his interpretation of the character, James Gunn has an important detail to share.

As soon as fans got to know that age is a major factor DC Universe closed the gates for their favorite Superhero, one question that flooded the internet was “how old will the new Superman be?” And it seems like we finally have an answer to it. The CEO apparently revealed on Blue Sky Social that the new son of Krypton will be as old as David-Corenswet.

So if Superman: Legacy is debuting in the latter half of 2024 or in early 2025, this will make the titular superhero 32 years old. As of 2023, David Corenswet is 30 years old.

One must also note that when the American actor starts filming, he will be 31 years old. This means he will be 6 years older than Henry Cavill when he first began filming for Man of Steel back in 2013, who was 25 years old at that time. But the question remains, is this hinting at something?

Does this hint at any special arc in the upcoming movies?

Well, perhaps. If this alludes to the synopsis of the upcoming Superman movie which will focus on Man of Steel’s history and his human heritage, this factor might as well play a very important role. And while this revelation entirely supports what Gunn stated earlier about Superman’s age, it also alludes to one more factor-  The Brave and the Bold‘s Batman’s age.

Gunn had previously hinted that the new Batman will only be a few years older than Superman. This means he will well be in his mid-thirties while Clark Kent enjoys his early thirties.
