With her stellar depiction of Princess Ciri in The Witcher, Freya Allan quickly became a household name for those who love the realm of fantasy. Beside Henry Cavill as Geralt, she truly breathed life into the odyssey of a young girl navigating a tumultuous world filled with magic. Her skills in embodying a complex character such as Ciri proved to her fans that the British actress’ career had only just begun. Initially created by the British director Alberto Corredor, Baghead was a short film that won various awards in its genre. Now, Corredor plans on creating a full-length flick based on that story with Freya Allan, Peter Mullan, and Saffron Burrows headlining the cast. It follows the story of a grief-stricken man who wishes to connect with someone who passed away through a form-changing witch. The film’s release date is February 8, 2024, for Mexico, while there is no news about the release date in the USA.
Although it is not clear what role Allan takes on in it, a now-deleted Instagram post from her showed that she had begun work on the project. When she was earlier asked in an interview if she found any particular role challenging to play, the 22-year-old did not point to any specific one. It seems like she is quite confident in her acting skills. So, she may just nail her role in Baghead as well as she did in The Witcher.
After all, she will not be the first actress to switch genres in this way. Jenna Ortega, who gained fame through Netflix, followed a similar path once.

When Jenna Ortega burst onto the screen with Netflix’s fantasy thriller series Wednesday, her delightful acting quickly turned the series into a bouquet of peculiar fun and even earned her an Emmy Award nomination. By delivering countless scenes that went viral in the online domain, Ortega was deemed one of the best actresses to emerge from her generation. Then, the 21-year-old lent her unique charm to the comedy horror franchise: Scream by doing two movies for it.
After those, she has now taken on another fantasy-meets-horror project in Beetlejuice 2. Ortega is also gearing up to make a comeback as Wednesday Addams in the second season of her Netflix show. In a way, Freya Allan now seems to be following the same trajectory as Ortega by graduating to the horror-laden Baghead from The Witcher’s whimsical storyline.
