William Shakespeare has given the world some classic and most appealing plays. And the British actor wanted to play one of Shakespeare’s most tragic characters.

The BAFTA Award-nominee actor grew up playing various roles in the theater with his mother. Therefore, his fascination for one of the greatest playwrights in the world justifies his wish. During his conversation with Josh Horowitz, Craig revealed that one role he would love to play was King Lear. The Kings star has already portrayed 2 Shakespearean characters. Portraying King Lear would make it the hat trick for him.

In 2016, he played Iago, the chief antagonist of Othello. And in 2022, Craig was Macbeth, the lead character in the play of the same name. Portraying King Lear next would fulfill the actor’s dream because he always wanted to be that tragic character. Explaining more about the reason, the Broadway actor revealed that the character of Lear was about his age (when he expressed interest in playing the character). Moreover, he admired the character because Lear was not daughtery.

King Lear was a man of words and less of actions. Therefore, while making a lot of errors in his judgments, King Lear is a tragic hero. And Daniel Craig wants to play this beautifully crafted character by the brilliant playwright William Shakespeare. Here, the Logan Lucky actor wishes to be on Broadway once again; his famous character, James Bond, is having a hard time finding a new face.

The franchise has still not announced who is going to replace Craig in the upcoming film. However, they have already hired a scriptwriter. Meanwhile, fans are pushing for their favorite actors to be the next remarkable spy.
