The Boys is known for its parodies of DC and Marvel Comics. From playing on the DC icon through Homelander to drawing parallels from X-Men’s Wolverine in the characters of Popclaw and Kimiko, The Boys franchise is a clear case of the Superhero genre gone wrong. As the fourth installment of the franchise debuted on the screens, several burning questions emerged for fans to uncover. However, it was some of the obvious Marvel comic references that kept them on the edge of their seats. And it was not just the hysterical Deadpool reference.

The Boys also teased the rip-off of Deadpool’s best friend through one of its characters in the fourth installment.

The first three episodes of The Boys 4 have hit the screens, and it has already caused a stir among fans. As fans wait for the next episodes to drop, the biggest speculation that has not left their minds is the two new Marvel parodies that could potentially join the cast for season 4 of The Boys moving forward: Web Weaver and Doctor Peculiar. Web Weaver is a rip-off of Spider-Man, the Marvel superhero who also shares a rich comic history with Deadpool.

Web Weaver has similar powers to Spider-Man, albeit with a gross and satirical twist, much like all the other superhero parodies. Meanwhile, Doctor Peculiar is a satirical take on Doctor Strange, who could later be used as a trump card for the franchise as new episodes continue to surface. However, the only superhero that may not need a twisted version of himself, because he is twisted enough as it is, is Deadpool.

Earlier this month, The Movie Dweeb had a chat with the cast of The Boys, including Erin Moriarty, Karen Fukuhara, and Claudia Doumit. During the interview, Karen Fukuhara, whose character is constantly compared to Deadpool, was asked about a clash between Kimiko Miyashiro and Deadpool. In defense of Kimiko, Fukuhara stated, “If they were to battle it out, I mean [Kimiko has] healing powers”.

While the actress was clearly out of the loop about Deadpool’s superpowers, she expressed that it would be “cool and very meta” to have Ryan Reynolds reprise his MCU character in the fifth season of The Boys. Whether or not Deadpool enters The Boys universe, the upcoming parodies in Eric Kripke's show could make up for the mild disappointment season 4 left fans with.
