Apart from the fact that he is a Windsor, perhaps the most notable addition to Prince Harry‘s resume is that he is the author of his memoir famously titled ‘Spare’. The Duke of Sussex holds the record for the highest-selling memoir with Spare, in which he claims that he was subjected to derogatory behavior by his own family just because he is not the King to be. While his claims were taken with more than just a grain of salt given that it was a memoir, a recent poll allows Prince Harry more freedom over the title of Spare.

Just a few days ago, it was highlighted that Prince Harry no more enjoys the ‘HRH’ title as the royal website tried to erase any traces of it next to the Duke’s name, but failed royally in the ‘quiet’ category. The Spare author still enjoys a position in line to the throne. But only on paper.

Prince Harry is spared from the line of succession

For all the attention that Megxit brought to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, it is quite surprising how close they still are to the Crown. The Duke may have forged a huge distance between himself and the royal family, but the royal website and, more importantly, his birthright declare him fifth in line to the throne. However, showing uncharacteristic consideration to the Californian royal, a survey taken by the Mail showed that an overwhelming 52 percent of respondents want Prince Harry gone from the line of succession.

The survey was done on a total of 1,504 people, out of which only a small group of 27 percent wanted him to remain. However, the percentage of British people who want Prince Harry gone from the line of succession is almost as great as the overwhelming majority in the United States that voted Prince William as the most popular public figure.

While the Britons have happily pushed Prince Harry out of the line, it is unlikely that this will happen anytime soon.

Will the Sussexes lose their royal titles?

While the recent updates surrounding their royal titles have not been kind to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, it does not really make a big difference. The royal website may have only removed the ‘HRH’ from Markle and Prince Harry’s name now, but it was a part of the titles they were dropping when they announced their exit. The Sussexes are still entitled to a lot of royal perks if they somehow manage to step back into the regal realm.

This chain of luck does not stop at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, whose kids also go by Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet despite not having any recollection of their time at the Palace. While there will always be debate regarding why the Sussex kids enjoy royal titles, no matter how overwhelmingly major the vote against his position in the line of the throne is, Prince Harry will always stand tall in it because of the perks of being a Prince.
