A Future Team-Up? ‘The Penguin’ Star Cristin Milioti Echoes Fans’ Desire for ‘Batman’ Duo
Sofia Falcone, played by Cristin Milioti, is easily one of the most compelling characters in The Penguin. At a time when the DCU saw box office fumbles and made fans wonder if it was the end of the comic universe, The Penguin hit a home run and Milioti became the talk of the town. Now, as the DCU world of cinema picks up the legacy lap from its streaming counterpart, the How I Met Your Mother actor is teasing a star-studded Gotham team up.
Giving air to fans' deepest desires, Milioti just fanned the flames of joining forces with another fan-favorite Batman character.

The Penguin wrapped up with a tantalizing twist, with Cristin Milioti’s Sophia Falcone receiving a letter from her half-sister, Selina Kyle. Like a shadow slipping through Gotham’s moonlight, the moment sparked endless speculation about when or if these two fierce femmes will finally cross paths on screen. Deadline recently caught up with Milioti at the Film Independent Spirit Awards and seized the opportunity to play messenger for the fans, floating the idea of a dream team with Sophia Falcone and Zoë Kravitz’s Selina Kyle in The Batman II.
“I would love that,” Milioti said, speaking of Kravitz. While The Penguin actor thinks it would be a DC force to reckon with if Sophia were to pair with Selina in The Batman II, Milioti also believes they could really “get into some sh--.” Moving on, the outlet approached her to get insights into what she would like Sophia to do in the upcoming film. According to the star of The Penguin, there is nothing more she would cherish than watching Sophia “come into her power and seek revenge.”
Though the events of The Penguin should directly impact The Batman II, especially in terms of Penguin’s arc, the film has unfortunately gone another push-back.
How long till fans get to see The Batman II?
According to The Hollywood Reporter last December, The Batman II will not grace the theaters as was expected. Initially, the movie was scheduled to hit the theaters in October 2025, but cancelation rumors went uphill last year. Although James Gunn swooped in to play the hero then, the film was unfortunately pushed back two years, slated for an October 1, 2027 release. The outlet also revealed The Batman II is not the official title of the forthcoming film, meaning fans are in for a surprise soon.

Speaking of DC heartbreaks, though, The Brave and the Bold, another Batman-centric project, has been delayed too. Andy Muschietti shared on the California Secreta podcast, “The Batman [The Brave and the Bold] project has been postponed a bit, so I might do another film before that.” Although it is unclear if The Batman II will echo Cristin Milioti and the fans’ desire, ultimately, the window in between gives the head honchos plenty of time to give it a thought, at least.
