A big drop: Will Smith is on rank 50 on this major list

Be it for awards, controversies, or just humor, Will Smith has managed to be a unit of entertainment since the 90s. With a career spanning more than 30 years, the actor still appeared in the top 100 for the most searched people on Google. According to MeetGlimpse, his rank has gone down tremendously since 2022. This year, Will Smith is on 51st rank, as opposed to being the most searched person on Google last year. Sitting on top of him are Nicki Minaj and Kylie Jenner. But this year’s clear winner was the legendary football player and his potential neighbor Messi, followed by Eras Tour lead singer Taylor Swift.

The King Richards actor won an Oscar award for his role in the film back in 2022. We now know that he became the most searched person not for the honor, but for the act of slapping Chris Rock on the stage. The topic, in fact, remained trending till this year’s Oscar, while his popularity fell almost immediately. 

There were expectations of his popularity dropping, which it did. But his comeback may change things.

How the actor’s popularity could climb again in the future?

The MIB. actor’s popularity plunged dramatically after the Oscar incident, and even his big $100 million AppleTv+ film Emancipation could not help him recover from the damage. He slowly began making appearances at events and getting back on social media, even making self-jokes about the event.

Things are slowly but surely getting better for the actor, with a few projects linked up already. I Am Legend 2, Hancock 2, Bad Boys 4, Fast and Loose, etc are a mix of his sequels to his classic films with some new ones as well. The releases of these could perhaps boost his search ranking.
