A ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Deleted-Scene Has Marvel Geeks Polarized Over the Snub

Ryan Reynolds arrived this year to deliver exactly what the Marvel Cinematic Universe needed–a big ol’ dose of his hero antics in Deadpool & Wolverine. Fans were already anticipating a blockbuster from the get-go, but thanks to the SAG-AFTRA strikes, comic book lovers went from eagle-eyed watchers to midnight scavengers, even hunting down leaks for a sneak peek. Now, those leak-filled days are behind fans, a deleted scene from the superhero showdown has dropped. But unlike the hype before the release, this one has the fandom split right down the middle.

The summer blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine is coming to fans digitally on October 1. USA Today recently dropped an exclusive deleted scene featuring Ryan Reynolds in all his scarred, wisecracking glory as Wade Wilson. The scene begins just as Wade has traded in his superhero suit for a salesman's gig until he is sought by the TVA and offered a chance to level up to Avengers status by Mr. Paradox. The deleted scene serves up an elevator roast in the classic Deadpool fashion.

The side-splitting gag refers to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, hilariously mashing them into “Doctor Ant and the Quantumverse of Madness.” While this is not the only Ant-Man meta joke Deadpool & Wolverine threw into the mix, it is definitely one that did not survive the final cut. But with the digital release just around the corner, fans might get a peek at even more snarky gems like this one.

As for this particular scene, though? It is safe to say the fanbase is feeling really divided about it.

Deadpool & Wolverine’s deleted scene has fans falling in and out of love parallelly

Deadpool & Wolverine crashed into the cinematic Hall of Fame, quickly claiming the title of Marvel’s savior. Snatching the R-rated crown from Joker, Ryan Reynolds led the charge to save the Marvel Cinematic Universe from its box office slump. But those die-hard fans who were once hunting down leaks like treasure? They do not feel the same buzz over the deleted scene’s release.

Some fans are all in, wondering how this gem got left on the cutting room floor. Others? Well, they think the scene just did not pack the same punch as the rest of the movie, so they get why it did not make the final cut.

Sure, it is rare for Ryan Reynolds to miss the mark as Deadpool, the role that is practically his second skin at this point, but maybe, this one did not quite hit the Marvel bullseye. Still, for the fans who are loving it, this deleted scene might just be the tip of the iceberg—opening the floodgates of hype for some, while others are content leaving that door closed.
