6 Years Before His DC Exit, Henry Cavill Admitted Zack Snyder’s Superman Struggled to Leave a Mark
Henry Cavill announced his exit from the DC Universe almost one year ago. The news broke fans’ hearts that the actor will never wear his iconic cape. New CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran made this decision after the underperformance of some movies and rebooted the universe. However, people did not take his removal easy because they believed he was the perfect personification of the legendary character. From his classical good looks to his facial features to his bulked-up physique, everything kept viewers enchanted for years.
Despite becoming likable among fans around the globe, the portrayer himself felt that Zack Snyder’s Superman did not have an impact. It seems the Jersey-born star did not like the presentation of the superhero in movies.

In an interview with The Rake magazine in 2017, Henry Cavill opened up about the mistakes DC films have made. He said the DC Universe would still struggle even if there were no Marvel movies to compete. According to him, the creators tried to depict storylines through a new lens. They tried to bring out something unique for the audiences, but it did not work the way they wanted.
“Yes, it has made money, but it has not been a critical success; it hasn’t given everyone that sensation which superheroes should give the viewer,” added Cavill. Fans would agree with the 40-year-old in this matter considering the 2013 Man of Steel failed to impress critics. They felt that the action sequences were appealing but not enough to surpass its descent into blockbuster territory.
All was not grey and blue, however, since Cavill felt DCEU was headed in the right direction with Wonder Woman.

In the same interview, Henry Cavill dwelled on the astounding success of Wonder Woman. He praised the depiction of the storyline, saying that it fits perfectly into social politics. The actor believed the success of the film would somehow benefit his own future Superman films. According to the former Superman, they learned from all the mistakes made in the past and could tell stories in the right way.
Unfortunately, his bright vision for the DC Universe could not come out the way he wanted. The new CEOs transformed this world and have decided to explore the younger version of Superman. Fans will see in the coming years if Cavill’s dream of making critically acclaimed movies with impactful storylines comes true or not.
