Even the most powerful couples often end in drama and heartache and are not spared the indignation of the spotlight's glare, let alone privacy. Be it infidelity, differences, or growing apart, these high-profile splits have a way of bursting up in the public, often turning ugly in the blink of an eye. Like the latest fuss between the Euphoria stars, Hunter Schafer, and her former partner, Dominic Fike.

Over a year after her split with Fike, Hunter Schafer is shining a light on why the duo parted their ways. 

While speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Hunter Schafer revealed that her breakup with co-star boyfriend Dominic Fike was "mutually agreed upon." Hunter Schafer revealed that infidelity played a role in her breakup with Fike, stating how it “fundamentally changed” her as a person. She admitted to reacting impulsively, checking his phone. The betrayal marked a turning point, prompting Schafer to reevaluate and ultimately end the relationship.

Hunter Schafer further added how it was one of the most “cleaner parting,” she has ever had. They both recognized their relationship was not moving the right way forward and the best way to recover from it was to end it. “We gotta go our own separate ways," the 25-year-old acknowledged, stating both of them have had personal issues to address.

Regardless of the personal split, the duo seems matured enough to handle it gracefully without affecting their professional ties.

Hunter Schafer and Dominic Fike's whirlwind romance began in 2021 on the set of the award-winning HBO teen drama Euphoria, where they played love interests on screen. Through the course of their relationship, they confirmed their love in February 2022, followed by a romantic photo. Their love story, however, was short-lived, as they announced their split in summer 2023. 

Following the breakup, Dominic Fike has further expressed hope for a professional reunion with Hunter Schafer in Euphoria's upcoming season 3, premiering in 2025. The former couple's on-screen chemistry will probably take center stage of the show, especially after going through a public breakup; although the fans are not exactly hyped for the same following its season two.
