Matthew Perry became a global sensation when he stepped on the screen as Chandler Bing for the first time. His exceptional performance has brought several moments in 10 seasons of Friends. The actor made such an impression on audiences that he became one of the most beloved stars in the show. His character’s combination of sarcasm and awkwardness was so amazing that people still rewatch him after decades. However, unlike most people who reminisce about his nearly perfect acting from time to time, the American star does not like to watch the series. Surprising, isn’t it?
In November 2022, Perry released his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, which gave an insight into his career and struggle with addiction. To promote it, the author sat down with CBC, where he opened up about his famous sitcom Friends. In an interview with CBC, the actor revealed that he never watched the comedy-drama, which made millions fall for it.

The 53-year-old stated that he took drugs during the entire run of the show and looked very thin on screen. So if he would have watched the show, all those memories would have rushed back because he was sober now. “I didn’t watch the show, and haven’t watched the show, because I could go, ‘drinking, opiates, drinking, cocaine,'” added the actor.
It was painful for him to see his physical condition deteriorating season by season, and it crushed him. Though the comedian has not gone back to watch it, he wants to see it because he knows the sitcom has entertained generations. It is quite disheartening to see that Perry could not embrace the fame for which he once got on his knees.
