Although it has been some time since he shed his swordsmanship over some conflicting debacles, he has remained true to Geralt’s core in a surprising way.

As many might have noticed, Henry Cavill’s allegiance to The Witcher’s syndicate has been overwhelming at points. But a past interview of his backs it up that his on-screen loyalty to this character has transcended his obedience even to the gaming screens.

Although there is no doubt that Cavill will no longer pick up the romantic lingering with Chalotra for The Witcher anymore, his 2021 interview with Digital Spy suggests that he remained faithful to her for The Witcher 3 game and books as well. 

In his conversation during the outlet on the red carpet for season 2, he said reflecting on his reads and playtime that “it’s always been… I felt true to Geralt’s core that it’s team Yennefer.”. The 40-year-old emphasized the leniency of games and stressed, “for me – even in the games” how it has always been “team Yennefer.”. The former Geralt’s commitment to the folklore is no news. As a result, his unwavering dedication to Yennefer is likely a part and parcel of this characteristic. 

Henry Cavill’s attestation to Yennefer’s impact on and beyond the gaming core is not his stance alone. Even for Anya Chalotra, who plays Yennefer for The Witcher, the feeling has been mutual. 

Anya Chalotra sides with team Henry Cavill for Geralt’s portrayal

The third season of The Witcher was a dream come true for the Geralt-Yennefer shippers. Like Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra too, shared her homage for her on-screen love interest with Geralt. In a dialogue with Digital Spy in 2023, the actress turned the spotlight on Cavill when she said, “there’s no one I’d rather have done this season with”. She even expressed her gratefulness for complementing her character on the screen with as much passion.

The Witcher’s third installment was a turning point for Geralt and Yennefer’s love story and character development for the novel and the gaming counterparts as well. Keeping in mind how the reel and the real adaptations have grown so much on the portrayal’s personas, their on-screen chemistry makes all the more sense. Now that the upcoming season begins with a new Geralt, it is time to wait and watch if the pair can rekindle the fascination.
