If there is one thing fans loved about Netflix’s The Witcher the most, it would be the casting. The fantasy drama gave a chance to many emerging and tremendous talents to take the limelight in this world of magic. One of those names includes Anna Shaffer, who plays the role of Triss Merigold in the show. An ally of Henry Cavill‘s Geralt of Rivia and fellow sorcerer alongside Yennefer of Vengerberg, embodied by Anya Chalotra.

This might come as a surprise to viewers that the English star was not new to the world of sorcerers. In fact, she made it to the iconic franchise many years ago in which Cavill failed to get in.

Anna Shaffer started her career with the fantasy genre 

Henry Cavill auditioned for the role of Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter franchise back in the day. Sadly, he could not get it and Robert Pattinson got cast for the iconic character. But unlike him, Anna Shaffer got the chance to work in this legendary movie at the beginning of her acting career. The first time Anna Shaffer ever stepped on the screen was when she played Hogwarts student Romilda Vane in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The actress again reprised her role as one of Gryffindor’s students in the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2.

Fans might not remember her because she looked unrecognizable in the latter films. While The Witcher featured her character with long, flowing red hair, Harry Potter depicted her as a dark-haired girl. This distinction in the color of hair could make it harder to recognize Anna Shaffer at first glance. But fans might remember her as the girl who tried to send Harry aka the ‘Chosen One’, a love potion so he could become infatuated with her.

The sorceress now forms part of the Netflix adaptation for the last four years and will appear in season 4 too.

Triss Merigold might have a bigger role in The Witcher season 4

Anna Shaffer’s Triss Merigold has appeared in The Witcher since the very beginning. Though she has not been the center of attraction, her role can be extended in season 4. The first reason was her assistance in the mage escape of Novigrad in season 3, which might lead to bigger responsibilities in the future. After the death of Tissaia, the society of mages has fallen apart, but Yennefer has decided to save the rest of them.

Merigold would assist her with her knowledge of the land’s political framework and royal court. Even if the time skip takes place in season 4, she would survive being one of the younger sorceresses. In fact, there is a huge chance of her ascending to a seat of power in Kovir. Meanwhile, only time will tell what this storyline will bring for the character, considering this world of mutants and mages has always been unpredictable.
