Andrzej Sapkowski’s creation, The Witcher, has expanded into the adaptation universe variably. His journey to the fantasy realm of drama has been witness to the monster-hunter saga via his invention of Geralt of Rivia. Although his journey in the adaptation world was initiated with much anticipation, recently his outlook on the same has been seeing the likes of lamentation.

Yet still, the author’s outspokenness has not been limited to his works alone. Earlier, Sapkowski had also given some wisdom bits to George R. R Martin about his creation and destiny of heroes in Game Of Thrones.

Sapkowski had previously revealed his inspiration behind The Witcher saga to be George R. R Martin’s success in Game of Thrones. Having been personally acquainted with Martin, he had once discussed the fate of his heroes. Sapkowski revealed his discontent with Martin’s conduct, saying, he’s killing them with no reason! Killing the heroes must have a reason.” at the Beijing Bookworm Festival in 2016.

To which Martin replied that “the reader is angry”. The Polish author added quirkily how “he made me angry killing Jon Snow!” Game of Thrones season 5 finale witnessed the assassination of Jon Snow by Thorne and his men. Although the next installment resurrected Snow, the death was disappointing for many, including Sapkowski.

During the same interview, Andrzej Sapkowski also expressed his desire to replicate “the success if not surpass” the HBO series. However, this was way before the Polish author bemoaned owing to the adaptation expansion. Back then, The Witcher’s live-action adaptation series was led by Henry Cavill.

In recent times, Sapkowski gave an interview to Cerealkillerz about the adaptations at the Vienna Comic Con event. Upon being asked if he had pitched in ideas for the Netflix series, he had confessed how “they never listen.” While the author previously looked forward to the saga unfolding, it appears that the initial excitement is now waning.
