Anya Chalotra played one of the three most important characters in Netflix’s fantasy drama series, The Witcher. Her character, Yennefer’s evolution into a sorceress, was just one facet of her significance in the series. Chalotra was also a part of the creators’ larger goal to reshape the traditional ideals of beauty. After winning millions of hearts with her ability to convey vulnerability while seamlessly transitioning into moments of intense power, she seems to be gearing up to spread her legacy in the universe of DC.

Creature Commandos, which will be James Gunn’s reinvented DC’s first project, will hit the airwaves in the year 2024. Months ahead of its release, rumors about Chalotra joining have been driving fans to the brink.

After rumors of Henry Cavill’s re-casting in DCU, the whispers about Chalotra joining the Creature Commandos cast began to circulate after her official CV on Spotlight came into the public eye. As per the CV, Chalotra will play the role of Circe, in the upcoming animated series. It will not be a major shift in character for The Witcher actress, as she will be stepping into the shoes of a sorceress once more.

Circe is a wicked sorceress in the DC universe who first appeared as a villain in the comic, Wonder Woman. The inspiration for this character roots back to a Greek mythological figure, who imprisoned Odysseus in Homer’s Odyssey. With a sadistic streak, she possesses the cruel ability to transmute humans into animals. As speculation surrounds the actress’s leap from Yennefer to Circe, it is a fitting time to juxtapose the characteristics of these two characters.

While Circe is a character of pure malevolence, Yennefer’s moral compass is more multifaceted, alternating between virtuous and morally questionable actions.

Yennefer was not inherently villainous. However, she had a lot of issues and many traits that contradicted each other. The Lauren Hissrich show tried to make her character much more likable. However, in the original sources, some of her actions were quite nefarious. From turning a crowd of peasants into animals just to vent frustration, to torturing the soul of poor Skellige guy, she gave many reasons to see her as a character with shades of grey.

In her dedication to finding Cirilla, many times she lost her moral compass. For instance, she reanimated the poor guy who saved Ciri’s life without giving it a second thought. Many fans of the franchise consider her a manipulative character who always did what she wanted. However, she also had her moments of heroism on the show that earned her a special place in the hearts. It will be interesting to see the morally complex Yennefer turning into a purely evil character in Creature Commandos
