Since Meghan Markle turned her back on the British royal family, she has, undoubtedly, been through a lot. But thankfully, the Duchess has a close-knit group of friends who have always had her back. Now, she is about to embark on a new project with Netflix, after a string of misfires. This show is make-or-break for both Sussexes, as it could decide whether their partnership with the streaming giant stays afloat or sinks. And it is at this very moment, when the 43-year-old needs her circle more than ever, and they have shown up.

A long-time friend is already singing the praises of the upcoming Netflix culinary show, teasing what fans can expect to savor when it drops.

The guest in question is none other than Meghan Markle’s long-time friend, Abigail Spencer. The two first crossed paths as costars on Suits, but their bond runs way deeper than just sharing scenes on a TV show. Recently, Spencer made an appearance at the American Heart Association Red Dress Collection Concert, and she spoke to PEOPLE about what fans can expect from the Duchess' new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. "People will really get an authentic look at the woman that I love and know,” said the Gilmore Girls actress.

Spencer also mentioned that fans are going to learn a lot from Markle through this show, just as she did. “It's really from her heart. It really is with love," the How I Met Your Mother star reassured fans. But that was not the end of it. Spencer also stood by Markle in the face of the recent controversy about her allegedly contributing to a toxic work environment, especially after a rather shocking report.

Abigail Spencer speaks out in support of Meghan Markle

Last month, Meghan Markle found herself with new allegations of bullying, as a former staffer labeled her a mean girl in a revealing exposé. According to anonymous sources mentioned in a Vanity Fair article, Markle did not foster a warm, friendly atmosphere at work—so much so, that the staff even came up with a rather unflattering nickname for the former actress out of sheer frustration. Abigail Spencer, speaking to Page Six at the event, admitted that it is hard to watch negative press about Markle. "It’s very painful as a friend," she shared.

Spencer went on to praise Markle as the "most glorious human being on the planet" and reaffirmed her support for her. And she was not the only one. Ever since the whole 'toxic boss' debacle started, there have been a few loyal defenders in Markle’s corner. With the new Netflix project, With Love, Meghan, hopefully, the duchess will finally have the chance to shift people’s opinions about her—for good, and with love.
