In recent years, classic sitcoms have taken over the world like nothing else. From shows like Friends to The Office, How I Met Your Mother, and more, all the early and mid-2000s shows have made a comeback. Now, five years after one series ended, they have broken a rather astounding record. Meghan Markle’s former starrer, Suits ended up being the most-watched show of 2023.
While that might be a feat by itself, the law series also ended up beating Steve Carell’s NBC sitcom by taking streaming numbers to a brand new high. According to a post on X (formerly Twitter), it was revealed that the 2011 show had racked up 57.7 billion minutes of viewership in just one year alone. While it might have been a close call with the mockumentary reaching 57.1 billion in 2021, Suits ended up coming out on top.

Although most fans of the show thought the record was accurate and made sense, some fans credited its success to Meghan Markle. While the Duchess of Sussex left the years before it ended, her fans have held on to hope that she would make a comeback. However, their dreams might be coming true with rumors of a tailor-written role for the mom of two in the speculated spin-off, Suits: Los Angeles.
The world might have to wait for Markle or her managers to confirm whether she will be taking it up. However, with the latest record break, fans rushed to social media to share their thoughts.

After news broke that Suits had broken The Office’s streaming record, fans of the show could not help but share their thoughts on the achievement. While most fans were happy that the show was finally being recognized, some of them credited Meghan Markle’s sitcom rumors from the previous year for hyping it up. Although she might have helped views out a little, her fans ended up deeming it the “Meghan Markle effect.”
