Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s docuseries, Harry & Meghan, found itself at the center of a storm of controversies, despite setting a record for being Netflix’s biggest release in the UK. While the series provided a window into the relationship of the Sussexes, it also unveiled a series of contentious disclosures. A year after its release, another Netflix Project is giving it a run for its money. 

David Beckham, who recently released his Netflix documentary, has taken the spotlight from the Sussexes’ docuseries. Beckham saw a recent spike in popularity that drew numerous comparisons between the soccer star and the Sussexes.

David Beckham’s Netflix documentary recently topped the charts on Netflix, 10 months after the release of Harry & Meghan. Beckham, which showcases the Manchester United star’s meteoric rise from humble beginnings to global football stardom, garnered a massive spike in associated searches, as per Google Trends data. It also outshone Harry & Meghan in terms of audience ratings. While Beckham raked an approval rating of 98%, the Sussexes sat at 19%.

In the first week, the Sussexes’ docuseries held a considerable lead in terms of viewership. However, Beckham continues to have a stronger overall hold on the audience. At a point when the Sussexes are already facing a decline in popularity, this might just be another nail in the coffin. Especially because the Wales’ are also on their way to becoming the power players in Tinseltown, potentially overtaking the Sussexes.

And now the Waleses are allegedly making it a point to prove their dominance in the States. Recently, a close source revealed to Closer Magazine that the Prince and Princess are now encouraging collaborations with Hollywood’s A-listers, including Tom Hanks and Taylor Swift

The source also shared that Meghan Markle particularly was not very happy about it. She felt this was an “attempt to just get into another tit for tat”. Prince William and Kate Middleton are allegedly planning their “ultimate revenge” for all the allegations the Sussexes leveled against them through their memoirs and docuseries, Harry & Meghan. Only time will tell if this will further result in a drop in popularity for the Sussexes in the States.
