The Tonight Show’s X, formerly Twitter account, recently dropped a video featuring Jimmy Fallon. The clip opened with the host stating that the fifth and final season of Stranger Things was in the works and that producers had decided not to use AI to “de-age actors”. “They can still pass off as kids,” said the comedian as he looked at the actors of the trending show, the majority of whom had already turned twenty or were on the brink of it.
The video then showed the trailer that the show created that mocked the issue that has been pressing the minds of creators. Instead of the real cast, it depicted some veteran actors and public figures named as characters. “Yeah, we should use that de-aging thing,” said the speaker in the end. The 49-year-old rubbed his eyes, unable to believe that the actors had grown so much old while waiting for the last season.
The host and his team clearly pushed back at haters who have been making this thing bigger than it should be. While Fallon tried his best to convince fans, the executive producer, Shawn Levy, also affirmed fans about the same in an interview.

In an interview with Variety last month, Shawn Levy addressed the growing age of actors while the show remains halted. He said people around the globe have watched these kids growing up all these years. “So we’re going to use all the all the tools available to us,” stated the Canadian director. According to him, growing was a natural part of human life that and the cast members have changed too.
The Oscar-nominated creator then admitted this might not be helpful for the story, but they cannot reverse it. All they can do was cover it with makeup and costumes. Fans have seen the prosthetics department’s mastery in the past seasons, so they should show faith in the team working behind the stage. He also revealed the cast members were quite excited to get back on the sets and start the shooting.
