Ozark gave Jason Bateman a lot—a chance to redefine his acting career, his first Emmy, and also show off his skills behind the scenes. But perhaps the most treasured gift he received from the show was his co-star, Laura Linney, who quickly became one of his closest friends. Their bond blossomed on set and from what it seems, it is built to last.

Last year, when Linney guest-starred on Bateman’s podcast, his heartfelt praise for his co-star was a clear reflection of their deep friendship.

In a September episode of SmartLess, Jason Bateman introduced Laura Linney with a sweet speech. He talked about how some people come into our lives and leave an impact that lasts through every stage. And when you get to work with them, "you end up doing a lot of smiling." Bateman then welcomed his co-star with, "Please welcome my fake wife, but true bestie," adding how sore his cheeks are from all the smiling.

Bateman also shared Linney’s long list of awards and accolades, including nominations for Oscars, Tonys, SAGs, BAFTA, Golden Globes, and Emmys. This led Will Arnett to jokingly ask Linney if she had ever thought about getting a T-shirt with all her achievements listed. Bateman quickly answered for her, saying, "Front and back." Though the story of the Byrde couple, played by Bateman and Linney, wrapped up with the final season of Ozark, they are teaming up again for an upcoming drama miniseries.

Jason Bateman and Laura Linney are finally reuniting after Ozark

Jason Bateman and Laura Linney are teaming up once again for Netflix's Black Rabbit, created by Zach Baylin and Kate Susman. Bateman will both star in the series and direct the first two episodes, while Linney will take on directing duties for episodes 3 and 4—though she will not appear in front of the camera this time. Interestingly, earlier she did not even want to direct Ozark because of the very man, Bateman.

Last June, a photo from the sets of Black Rabbit showed Bateman with long hair and a scruffy beard while holding a script. While Bateman was likely in his character, Linney was seen guiding him as he read. A month later, more images from the set came, showing them together once again. In July, Bateman even had a bandaged hand, while Linney directed from a doorstep in New York City after filming a scene with Michael Cash. With this collaboration, the only hope is that their friendship and creative synergy continue to grow for many more years.
