Will Smith Is Still Reeling From Janelle Monáe's Unforgettable Set at Mad Cool Festival
Will Smith keeps one foot in the acting world and the other in music. It should not be a surprise, considering his entire family is connected in some way or the other to the music industry. The rapper-turned-actor, who is once again making a return to the music industry and the world of rap, recently made an appearance at one of the biggest annual music festivals held in Spain.
It was, however, Janelle Monáe's gesture that gave Smith an experience he will never forget. And he could not thank the singer enough for it.

Janelle Monáe and the Smith family have been friends for years now. Whether it was Monáe accepting Will Smith's NAACP Image Awards on his behalf, or her coming out of the closet on Jada Pinkett Smith's Red Table Talk, this friendship has been evident in many instances. Recently, Monáe gave Smith a pass to crash her performance at Spain's Mad Cool Festival, about which Smith could not stop raving about in a video he posted from the event. "You are the TRUTH!," wrote Smith in the caption.
In the video, Smith could be seen interacting with fans, signing autographs with lipsticks, and flaunting some slick moves backstage to Janelle Monáe's performance. "Fantastic. That’s my first time ever seeing her perform live," said the Fresh Prince. Smith further shared that he has always been a fan as well as a student of Monáe. While the actor had the time of his life at the Mad Cool Festival, his first attempt at making a comeback to music was met with an unexpected reception.
Will Smith performed his first live performance in years, which unfortunately, had fans divided and did not go as anticipated.

Last month, Will Smith released his first single in a bid to make a comeback to his roots. The track ‘You Can Make It' featured Fridayy and the Sunday Service Choir. While this release was a surprise for fans, Smith's live performance at the BET Awards faced some criticism from those still upset over the infamous 2022 Oscar incident. However, not everyone felt the same way.
Many fans were happy that Will Smith was returning to save the hip-hop world, especially at a time when the other icons were contemplating retirement. As for whether the world has forgiven him or not can be seen from the massive business his 2024 film, Bad Boys: Ride or Die did. With the hope for more musical creations coming, Smith will hopefully regain his stand in the hip-hop world.
