Sydney Sweeney Replaces Taylor Swift in a Rumored MCU Role, Reveals Hollywood Insider
Taylor Swift has been the most talked-about celebrity to break into the MCU ahead of the Mutant takeover. The rumor mill started churning during the making of Deadpool & Wolverine and has since become a staple subject in the Marvel fandom. Fans have also begun to point out some Easter eggs that further fuel the possibility of this casting. However, a Hollywood insider has hinted that one of the roles, rumored to have landed in Swift’s lap, has gone to another actress, Sydney Sweeney.
Sydney Sweeney is apparently a preference for a role at the MCU, after her first appearance as a Marvel character fell through.

While Sydney Sweeney is not a newbie to Marvel characters, she is definitely a newbie to MCU. She joined Sony's Spider Man Universe with Madame Web, which hit the screens this year and tanked both critically and financially. After playing Julia Cornwall in Sony's latest Marvel release, Sydney Sweeney is rumored to take on the role of Blonde Phantom in the MCU. Hollywood insider MyTimeToShineHello on X claimed, “I hear it's actually Sydney Sweeney that Marvel wants to play Blonde Phantom.” This role was previously rumored to be reserved for Taylor Swift.
Earlier this month, Daniel Richtman suggested that a Blonde Phantom series was in the works and that Taylor Swift was being eyed for the iconic role. There were also rumors of a secret meeting between the pop sensation and Marvel boss, Kevin Feige, to discuss the role. However, with a preference for Sweeney, the narrative changes. But still, Swift landing the part might go down smoother with the audience than Sydney Sweeney.
Sydney Sweeney, despite her talent and popularity, might not be able to pull off portraying Marvel’s superheroine convincingly, and it is all down to one major reason.

Over the years, Sydney Sweeney has shown a range that shuts down any doubts about what characters she can or cannot play. However, when it comes to superhero characters, the 26-year-old has already had her shot, making her mark as Julia Cornwall. While it is not unheard of for Sony Marvel actors to take a new role in the MCU and vice-versa, it is usually for less prominent parts or animated, CGI-heavy characters like it happened for Josh Brolin's Thanos who played Cable in Sony's Deadpool 2.
Keeping in mind the mediocre reception the flick got, it will be difficult for the audience to forget her role in Madame Web. Taylor Swift, on the other hand, will be a fresh face in the MCU that too for a fresh series if the insiders are to be believed. Especially, if the creators play up a love triangle dynamic and let her character, Blonde Phantom, sing, Taylor Swift could be the cash cow the studio is looking for.
