Sydney Sweeney Inches Closer to the Marilyn Monroe Tag, as She Inspires a Full-Fledged Song From Ken Carson
Sydney Sweeney became the 21st century’s very own Marilyn Monroe after she honored the timeless elegance of Old Hollywood earlier this year. Sweeney had the most iconic fashion moment at the 2024 Oscars after-party, rocking a statement white dress akin to the kind that Monroe was known for wearing. Ever since that moment, fans have drawn comparisons between Sweeney and the '50s actress to foreshadow the Euphoria star’s future in the industry. And they may not be completely off base.
Sweeney is, indeed, having a bit of a similar arc as that of Monroe, having recently inspired a song much like the blonde bombshell did.

Sydney Sweeney recently inspired a Ken Carson track, titled, 'ss'. The track was a part of the seven additional songs that the artist dropped in the deluxe version of his hit album 'A Great Chaos'. 'ss' had the Anyone But You actress' mention in it, several times, although it mostly focused on one aspect that Sweeney herself has grown tired of being limited to. Much like The White Lotus star, Marilyn Monroe had also inspired a track in the 70s.
Elton John's track from 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' album, 'Candle in the Wind', was written in honor of the short yet illustrious life of Marilyn Monroe in 1973. However, the song was dedicated to Princess Diana after she died in 1997, with some modifications in the lyrics. Apart from both actresses being blonde bombshells, although that is not the original hair color of either Sweeney or Monroe, many other aspects have led fans to draw parallels between the two stars.
Sydney Sweeney and Marilyn Monroe have more or less faced a similar predicament in the industry, with their talent being overshadowed by discussions about their appearance. But both have stood firm as pillars against such stereotypes.

Marilyn Monroe never hesitated to break stereotypes around a woman’s sexuality. In an era when women were scrutinized and judged for practically every transgression of norms, Monroe became an emblem of the sexual revolution. Ages have passed since then, but the world has merely changed. Ever since Sydney Sweeney’s role in Euphoria, the actress has been subjected to over-sexualization, which she addressed following her hosting gig on Saturday Night Live.
Sweeney told Variety earlier this year that she feels dehumanized by the comments made about her appearance and the sexualization she has faced throughout her career. “I’m not on a human level anymore, because I’m an actor,” said the actress. Given such parallels between both actresses, it is safe to say that if Sweeney were to star in a Marilyn Monroe biopic, it would sell like hotcakes.
