Fallon, like many of Reynolds’ fans, a victim of curiosity about the film’s extensive cameo roster, hoped for some clarity and cautiously inquired about the rumored Taylor Swift cameo. Despite recent denials, Reynolds chose to address the topic, avoiding any name-dropping, and emphasized that there are fewer cameos but they can be seen as “surprises” instead.

Though the actor initially played coy about Swift’s potential appearance, he eventually gave in with his trademark wit. Reynolds joked that if it were up to him, he would straightaway cast Swift as the Merc with a Mouth because of her incredible humor. Although he did not confirm Swift’s cameo, he explained why he prefers to call these appearances “surprises” rather than “cameos”, citing they all have beginnings, middles, and ends. More precisely, none of these characters appear out of thin air.
