Prince William celebrated his 42nd birthday at the London Eras Tour show, along with his children. While everyone was excited to see pictures and clips of the royal attendees having a ball at the Eras Tour, no one could have anticipated such repercussions from it. As soon as pictures and clips from Taylor Swift’s concert featuring Prince William and his family surfaced, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry found themselves caught up in yet another social media storm.  

The conversation was not about how adorable and cheerful Prince William and his children looked at Eras Tour anymore, posing with the pop sensation and her NFL boyfriend, Travis Kelce. Instead, it turned into a battle of likes. Within just 9 hours, the picture of the Prince with Taylor Swift and his children received over 500,000 likes. This led many fans to criticize the Sussexes for not garnering as many likes on their posts from Beyonce’s concert.    

Last September, Prince Harry and Markle danced the night away at Beyonce's Renaissance World Tour. While Markle looked absolutely in her element, the Prince came across as a bit subdued in comparison. Upon seeing Prince William 'Shake It Off' at Eras Tour, fans found another point to throw shade at the Californian Royals. However, the comparisons were drawn from both sides of the fandom.

While fans of the Wales couple mocked Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for not having enough star power, others accused Prince William and his family of trying to copy the Sussexes.

As soon as Prince William’s pictures and videos from the Eras Tour hit the web, many fans began sharing old pictures of the Sussexes and the Wales, juxtaposing them to prove that the Wales have always tried to copy Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. Whether it was the iconic rain photography or similar outfits worn by Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, fans found several pieces of evidence to support their claims.

Meanwhile, some claimed the Sussexes can never match the charm of the Wales. 

One of the biggest reasons for the new picture of Prince William and Taylor Swift going viral is the fact that the Prince and Princess of Wales have a strong social media presence. They have their own official accounts dedicated to engaging followers with their life updates. Meanwhile, whatever social media presence the Sussexes have is through fan accounts. However, it is interesting how they still find themselves entangled in its controversies.
