No Eras Tour Effect: ‘The Fall Guy’ Music Supervisor Spills the Unknown About Taylor Swift and Her Music for Ryan Gosling’s Movie
A soundtrack is the magic sauce that either makes or breaks a movie, especially when it is about weaving in songs for a movie like The Fall Guy. While it is no secret that the film is packed with explosions and death-defying car stunts, it is also about the slow reconciliation of a pair of star-crossed lovers. Thanks to the clever marketing move of slipping in a Taylor Swift number, 'All Too Well', the movie has been hyped up as a wild ride with a soft touch.
Recently, the music supervisor of the 2024 movie revealed the backstory of how Taylor Swift's song ended up in it in the first place.

At first, it was assumed that the Eras Tour might have influenced The Fall Guy team's decision to include Taylor Swift’s 'All Too Well' in the film. However, recently, music supervisor Rachel Levy set the record straight to Variety, confirming that the scene was already scripted and the rights to the song were locked in even “before the tour frenzy”. Levy went on to say, “Taylor is a friend of sync. We haven’t had much that’s been denied by her”.
The supervisor also shared that Swift enjoys having her songs featured in movies, and there was no doubt it would be approved this time. And it proved to be a great call, as the song not only heightened the excitement for the movie but also deepened the emotion of the depicted scene, especially benefiting the actor, Ryan Gosling.
According to reports, Ryan Gosling was deeply affected by the Taylor Swift song, which was reflected in his on-screen presence as well.

When Jody Moreno, played by Emily Blunt, gave Ryan Gosling’s Colt Seavers a cold shoulder upon their reunion on the movie set, he skulked away to his truck. As he fires up the engine, Taylor Swift's 'All Too Well' starts blaring from the speakers- the 10-minute version celebrated for its tear-inducing power. Overwhelmed by the lyrics, Gosling let out a reaction anyone might have to the melody, and that is sob like a baby- so much so that David Leitch had to cut some of the footage of his tear-soaked face.
No surprises there, considering the Barbie actor's love for the song. In a chat with Fandango, when asked about his favorite song, he confessed that 'All Too Well' holds a "real soft spot" in his heart. Considering how the track sparked off wild theories about Taylor Swift’s involvement in the movie, it is no surprise that Gosling's choice struck a chord with his character on screen too.
